Darwin Award Contender 15/11

From NineMSN:

A US man is recovering in hospital after an attempt to loosen a stiff wheel nut on his tyre with a hand gun backfired.

The 66-year-old Washington man was repairing his car outside his home when the accident happened, BBC News reports.

Frustrated with the inability to loosen the wheel nut, the man pulled out a 12-gauge shot gun and blasted it at the wheel.

Buckshot and debris sprayed back onto the man, giving him severe — but not life threatening — injuries.

The debris flung back on to his feet and all the way to his abdomen, with some fragments reaching as far up as his chin.

Police said the man was not intoxicated at the time.

And no, I’m not quite sure how the handgun in the first paragraph turned into the 12-gauge shotgun in the third.
