If you supported the Make Education Fair campaign you are a retard.

I assume the 5 of you that actually cared about “changing the educational makeup of our educational system for now and forever” are reeling in shock that anyone who isn’t an ardent freedom-hating ‘leftie’ would be loathe to come out in opposition of the whole ‘make education fair’ campaign for INTELLECTUAL EQUALITY ON CAMPUSES.

There’s a solid case for the fact that yes, those who work in academia tend to be biased to a certain political viewpoint. It also turns out that tradies love women with very little clothes on and cheap zoo magazines and the police love to fuck with muslims and touch little children. You are fairly easily described by your occupation and how you spend your time. You see, the thing about the whole make education fair failing so utterly amazingly is the fact that it is both condescending and naive at the same time.

Point 1: If you recognise the bias, you’ve already won.

We, as a group of individuals impinge upon our own wants and desires to live happily with others. For example, you don’t go around wantonly murdering everyone that slights you, do you? You don’t shit in public fountains for the benefit of a clamoring crowd, do you? You don’t vomit on the command of a romanian circusmaster named pierre, do you? Why, might you ask, eyes shining with the slick of ignorance and adolescence?

Because some shit you just put the fuck up with and accept, okay? Sometimes you just sigh, give up and take a right royal pounding because at the end of the day a torn ring is probably a superior outcome. However, I shall branch out from the idiocies of ad-hominem attacks on those who were so tirelessly dedicated to the cause that they went countless nights without sleep, ever vigilant lest the shadow of leftism stalk through their bedroom door and highlight their textbooks in an avante garde manner.

I shall perform the next section in the form of a Dear Agnes letter.

Dear Agnes,

I’ve recently come into a spot of bother, you see, my usual sponsor has gone through the wringer, and come up twopenny short of a full quid. To put it in laymans terms, we’re screwed from the ground up. There’s a new social order in power and we’ve just lamped the last bastards to hold this job. I’ve been thrown the top position in this new gig and hope to make a splash so that I can spend the rest of my utterly thankless and inconsequential life as a backbencher in a safe nationals seat, only occasionally masturbating to the corpses of aborigines/the dirty underwear of my sister.

Would you please, dearest agnes, avail me of some inconsequential campaign that would allow me to curry favour with the higher ups, achieve great levelness in the younger liberaches, and generally look like a cunt who wouldn’t know social rape from an Enid Blyton novel.

Yours in Christ,

Noel McCoy

Well, dear readers, it seems Mrs Agnes responded in kind to Noel’s quiet suggestion by saying ‘hey you should rip off the campaign the young republicans did because you’re all in a state of shock/have the creative panache of a cancerous uterus” and off they went.

Claiming Senate inquiries here and there.

Side note, claimed from wikipedia:

Things a senate inquiry is supposed to investigate:

  • Motherfuckers fucking up other people’s shit
  • Kevin Rudd touching little girls for votes
  • Julie Bishop lacking any shreds of humanity
  • Labor censoring shit ‘for the lulz’
  • People in the army randomly killing people and then being like ‘oh soz’

Things a senate inquiry isn’t supposed to investigate:

  • Why that rapscallion down the street is charging more for his lemonade on a hot day than on a cool one
  • Why you can’t ever communicate the name of that show you once saw and it was so good
  • Why you still can’t eat a kebab after seeing your parents have sex
  • Why you’re upset because your lecturer used the words ‘labour’, ‘theory’ and ‘value’ within 1000,000,000,000 words of one another

You see, it’s one thing for a party who bases its mandate on social justice to abuse the powers of governance and stick their nose into everything, it’s another thing for those from the youth wing of a party which ostensibly supports individual freedom to fuck with the intellectual freedom of others under the auspices of keeping things ‘fair and balanced’.

You lost before you even started. You idiots, you of all people should have known you cannot use the government as a blunt tool to enforce a particular standard of morality. So what, a few people lost marks here and there because they didn’t mention marx here and there, we live, we learn, we love.

We develop. We cannot, particularly at this time, enforce a stagnating set of intellectual criterion upon the greater population through basically crossing our fingers and hoping nick minchin hasn’t been laid in a while. If you have a legitimate gripe with what your lecturers are saying “Lol I love palestine, kill the jews” or “lol the earth is 6,000 years old, you will be tested on this” you actually have a route, a method, a pathway… to some semblance of inner calm.

Calling Coonan and having a cry because Commander ‘not getting paid that much’ doesn’t like the free market, is fucking pathetic and intellectually dishonest.

If your eventual aim is to censor people who disagree with you, you’re no better than they are.

It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it.  ~Aristotle. Either we discern our current political positions from evidence and logic, or we do not. You can embrace idealism, and countless young ones do, but keep in mind that behind the figure of idealism lurks a list of atrocities against humanity so great that even in millenia to come we will still be slightly watery eyed at the prospect of such evil ever repeating itself.

I don't think it's about censorship in honesty. You know I've worked on and supported that campaign from the moment it was announced - and that I'd never, ever suggest that the government should censor freedom of expression. I just wish there was some semblance of balance in class - but you know what, I made the choice to change degrees because I didn't like it! I'd hate an overtly conservative classroom just as much - education is about broadening the mind, not indoctrination or stagnation or anything else, which is why the status quo on campus bothers me so much.

(It'd be better if universities were deregulated and privatised - might solve a lot of these problems.)

(Also still think you've basically missed the point on what people were complaining about. Don't know if you've seen the content of my old teaching course but it was disgustingly one-sided and I'd prefer not to be marked down for not buying into groupthink. Thankfully UTS likes intellectual pluralism more than USyd, even if they like feminist and indigenous issues a little too much. But, you know, at least they're open to other viewpoints - and besides, if you cannot face other viewpoints then it might just be because you're worried you won't be able to justify your own i.e. your support for your own views is weak or irrational. That of course applies to both sides of this debate.)

Can someone point me in the direction of the last book Ms 'Open-minded' Malfoy read which wasn't rabidly anarcho capitalist?

I can point you to one right now...

Open World - Philippe Legrain - he's from the centre-left and describes himself as such.

I don't know who you are, Super Science Jews, but I have a feeling... and if you're really that interested I'm keeping a book log on my Facebook for all the books I read in 2009, and so far this year I haven't read anything you could classify as ancap. That wouldn't fit your too-easy judgement though, would it?
