Subsidies to the automotive industry are fucking absurd

$6.2bn in assistance (source: http://www.smh.com.au/news/opinion/car-subsidies-blow-good-money-out-the-exhaust/2008/11/10/1226165475381.html), 26,000 directly employed in auto manufacturing (source: http://www.automotivetraining.org.au/TrainingPackages/TrainingPackagesManufacturing/Default.htm).

If we do the maths we get 6,200,000,000/26,000 = $238,461 per person employed in the industry, and apparently we still need tariffs to make them competitive. I mean, fuck.

Although I certainly agree with the post. Subsidies and tariffs are absurd and counter-productive.
